Description
Sapelli is native to tropical Africa. The species can grow up to an impressive height of 45 metres in the air, with some rare ones going up to 60 metres. The trunk diameter can almost reach 2 metres.
The heartwood is golden to dark reddish-brown and the colour tends to darken with age.
Sapelli is well known and very sought-after for its interlocking grain patterns that create a dramatic and exotic look. The grain can also be wavy. The texture is fine and uniform. It can be polished to a very high lustre.
