Description
Balau is not a single tree species but the term used for trees of the Shorea genus. The Yellow Balau grows in the tropical rainforests throughout Asia. Balau trees can reach heights up to 40 metres and the wood is famous for its hardwood qualities.
Described as being very durable, it offers a unique range of warm colours of golden-brown, brown, or reddish-brown with interlocked grain, and a moderately fine and even texture.
This timber blends in beautifully within a natural environment.
