Description
Commonly known as Cumaru, Dipteryx odorata is a hardwood tree that grows in northern South America and parts of Central America. The tree can grow up to 30 metres, with a trunk of up to one metre in diameter.
The heartwood has a beautiful medium to dark brown colour, with rich brown tones, hues of gold and red that complement any outdoor space. The grain is interlocked, with a medium texture and a waxy feel. Cumaru is rated as very durable, has excellent weathering properties and the beauty of an interior hardwood. It also ages gracefully. Its hardness and oils make it a naturally treated wood which lasts a long time in all environments.
